How to look after your silk bed sheets
Since the excellent quality of silk bed sheets come at a slightly higher price than other lower-quality bedding, you want to make sure you take good care of it. Don’t worry, your luxurious bedding does not need to be dry cleaned to maintain it. In fact, since silk naturally repels allergens, dust, oil, and dirt, you can get away with washing your bedding less often than other synthetic or cottonmaterials.
It is always important to read the manufacturer’s specific washing guidelines. However, most silk fibers can be successfully and safely machine washed and air-dried. Never tumble dry your silk bedding or any silk for that matter. The heat and tumbling motion will damage the silk fibers.
Also, don’t ever use bleach or other harsh chemicals on silk as it will damage the fabric and shorten its generally durable lifespan.
When washing, a hand wash is always the most delicate way of treating any fabric, but we know it is laborious and time-consuming. Whether you hand or machine wash your silk bed sheets, use cold water. Iron the sheets on the cool setting and iron on the inside of the fabric instead of the sheen side.
